Boa constrictor with severe stomatitis, dehydration and malnourishment

This Boa constrictor was presented to me with a severe case of stomatitis ulcerosa. The roof of the mouth was severely swollen and in the tissue there were holes filled with puss and dead flesh. Applying pressure on the nose resulted in puss running out of holes in the snake's mouth. (holes which shouldn't have been there to begin with... ) The vomero-nasal organ (Jacobsons organ) was completely destroyed and some of the bones in the upper jaw were also affected by the stomatitis. The fluids running over the right eye could not be drained due to the swelling of the surrounding tissue, hence the swelling of the head.. This animal was also severely dehydrated and malnourished, there is a video in my upload-list with the intestinal parasites this animal also had to deal with (flagellates and pinworms) ( www.youtube.com ) Unfornunately, despite treatment with antimicrobials, daily cleaning the oral mucosae subcutaneous fluids and agressive antiparasitic treatment (and a Sh*tload of money spent) this animal died after 6 or 7 days of intensive care.. Had the animal been brought in sooner (say, a month or so...) I am convinced that it would have been alive still. Some people should not be allowed to keep animals as pets.
